But first, let me show you the one room I haven’t shown you at all! My living/dining room. Can you guess why?

It is a really long room with a long asymmetrical fireplace. Especially that fireplace… it will get a makeover one day but I struggle with decorating around it. The decor on here changes every few days (not kidding) because I just can’t figure out an arrangement.

Here is the other side of the room. I can’t even believe I am putting these pictures out on the world wide web! A quick disclaimer for what its worth – that kid’s stuff has been displaced for a little bit but will be back in the playroom soon.

Also, we are waiting for me to build a dining table.

Anyway, the room is a mess and needs a lot of help.

Then I met Modsy! And it blew my mind!

My Modsy Design Review

The living/dining room makeover

I couldn’t wait to see what they came up with for my living/dining room! I sent them my pictures and measurements and took the design quiz. I also told them I wanted to keep the couches, rug, and the media console.

Modsy sent me two designs of my space –

It looks so REAL!! There is absolutely no guesswork involved… You know exactly what it will look like when you are done!

I was absolutely blown away!

They also have screenshots of other angles PLUS a 360° viewer to make you feel like you are walking through the room! It already gave me my answers on how to arrange furniture in this room without feeling awkward!

Since the media console was handmade by me, I sent them pictures of it from a couple of angles and they recreated it for the 3D rendering! It couldn’t feel more real!

Also, I love how they helped break up that long fireplace and tie it into the room!

But there were a few things that needed to be changed. Apart from the fact that I needed a larger dining table, it didn’t quite feel like me…

So, I requested the designer to add more warm tones and color. I also have a big collection from Antique brass items from India that needed a spot to be showcased.

That’s how Design 3 came about.

Now that’s what I am talking about!

It is absolutely gorgeous and so much me!

There were just a couple of things… I didn’t love the rug in the living room and the blue flower chairs were a bit much… so they just swapped it out for me.

And then we had Design 4! 

This is it!

I absolutely love it!

It really feels like me and now I know exactly what I need to do to get this room in shape.

Especially, that fireplace – it feels less awkward and more at home. Plus, it gives me the idea for a quick makeover so I can make it look better in the interim. 

I also like the part where you can buy any items you want directly through them. They stick to the budget you gave them when you started. If you want to, you can buy all the things and be confident in your choices.

Or, you could buy nothing and DIY all the things. Your choice!

Would I use Modsy again?

Absolutely!!

I have made mood boards in the past but nothing compares to actually being able to see the design like it was real and knowing exactly what will work in a space.

Our master bedroom needs a makeover too and I will probably use Modsy to make sure I spend time and money on items that truly belong in the space.
