BEGINNER TIPS AND TRICKS
BEGINNER WOODWORKING TIPS THAT NO ONE TELLS YOU!
When I first started woodworking, I learned everything by following a few of my favorite bloggers.
There aren't really any "tricks" to becoming a woodworker
These are basic concepts that just seem to get lost in translation. These basic woodworking tips will help you get better results right off the bat!
Cut off factory ends
If you don't start with a good edge, you will never get a good edge.
Account for Kerf
Kerf is the width of the blade and should be accounted for when making the cuts because that width disappears.
Don't let the boards fly
Sand on a non-slip surface to avoid scratching on the opposite side.
stop plywood from splintering
Apply painter's tape to the cut line, then cut. The painter's tape keeps the plywood veneer from splintering.
Making cuts
The best approach is to measure the spacings and sizes and make the cuts as you go so you can account for any variations.
Pro tip
Blades are designed to cut in the up motion. Turn your piece over when cutting with a jigsaw.
