I first saw it on Pinterest but unfortunately haven’t been able to locate the source.

How to build the modern bookshelf –
Building this modern bookshelf basically consists of 5 easy steps –
- Make the cuts and sand the boards
- Make the pocket holes
- Assemble 1 side
- Assemble 2nd side
- Add the back
Truth is sanding the boards is probably the longest step in this process but when is it not…
Below is a full video tutorial showing how I built this easy DIY Modern Bookshelf. I am sharing a lot of tips and tricks to assemble it below too.
Tips to build a perfect DIY modern bookshelf –
-
Do a rough fit
Before you make any pocket holes, be sure to lay out everything on the floor to get an idea of the direction and location of the pocket holes. Be sure to mark the locations on each shelf and keep track of the shelves because they can get confusing.
-
Ensure shelves are square
Use a speed square while you attach the shelves to make sure they are square and perfectly perpendicular to the sides and back.
That’s it! Follow the build plans and you have your shelf!
I warned you! It is a super easy build. Sometimes the easiest builds look like a million bucks!
This is going to be a great display shelf for my living room.
I love the whimsy of the uneven shelves.
Where would you put it?
