A fun and colorful kids art party full of colorful food, decorations and activities. Everything on a budget! The perfect paint party for any little artist.

My daughter loves art… she can sit with paper and crayons or markers for hours on end. So, it was no surprise to me when she requested an Artist birthday party for her 4th birthday.

A quick search on Pinterest gave me numerous ideas for paint/artist party. Armed with all the inspiration, I set out to create a themed party for my little girl. It was a huge success!

Preparations for the Art Party –

The days leading up the party were filled with lots of preparations! The best part was having my little girl involved. She loved helping with everything!

Decorations for Kids’ Paint Party –

The day of the party the front door greeted guests with a paint covered artists palette that I hot glued to colorful ribbon. Simple and easy decorations for artist birthday party

In the entryway, guests were greeted by a canvas painted by the birthday girl. I also hung a picture from her 4-year-old photo shoot which had lots of color in it!

Artist Birthday Party Food –

The food table was set up to be colorful and lively. I draped colorful streamers above it in 6 colors.

I made little art easels using popsicle sticks to hold the food tags. Tutorial here.Fun and colorful artist birthday party food

For the food tags, I cut up 1/4″ plywood into little card sized rectangles and painted with chalkboard paint. Psst….I had one for each food – but there wasn’t enough space on the table for all of them, so I ended up using only 1 for the entire table…better planning next time!

Kids Art Party Activities –

An art/ paint party is obviously going to get messy! Thankfully we had a nice big yard to contain all the chaos. I draped streamers all across the trees to add lots of color.

When the kids started coming in, we had an art apron for each to pick and get to work.

The table was set up with lots of assorted brushes, glitter glue, some stickers, lots of tempera paint and of course paper (I forgot to take a pic of the table set up).

The little artists had a ball whipping up endless art. We tied a string between trees and added painted clothespins for the paint display. Very soon we had a very beautiful art gallery!Fun Kid's paint party birthday idea

Then came the surprise! Mi had wanted face painting… searching for a face painting artist, I stumbled upon this company that sends princesses to face paint and do balloon twisting. It was the best decision ever! All the girls were super surprised and enamored by her. The birthday girl was speechless!

The playroom with the art wall was the perfect backdrop for the cake. I really wanted to make one of those multilayered rainbow cakes you see all over the web, but was limited with time and counter space. We decided to order one instead and Mi loved it! Artist birthday party - paint party cake - Little Free Monkeys
