How to Organize a Little Girl’s Hair Accessories
As a DIY mom, obviously I decided to make one! My little girl and I both love how this doll face hair bow holder turned out!
After a ton of research on hair bow holders, I showed my little girl some options. She decided that she loved the hair bow holders that had “long hair” because that is what we are currently obsessed with.

Materials for Making a Doll Face Hair Bow Holder:
How to Make a DIY Hair Bow Holder –
Step 1 – Start by painting the face. I painted the entire wood circle with flesh colored craft paint. Then used a pencil to lightly draw the eyes, eyelashes and the smile and painted over it with the craft paints to create the face. In my infinite excitement to see if the whole idea works or not, I forgot to take a picture of the process. You can see the face in the finished product above.
Step 2 – Take 30 strings of yarn at 32″ inches each. I simply looped them and then cut off them at one end.
Step 3- Attach the “hair” to a table with tape leaving about 6″ loose on top.
Step 4 – Divide the “hair” into bunches of 10 strings each and braid them. At the bottom, tie it up with a small string of yarn. Repeat for the other braid.
Step 5 – Hot glue the “hair” to the painted doll face starting with one side and then layering the other side to create a nice hairline. I had to use a ton of hot glue to make sure all the strands stayed where they were supposed to. This was a bit tricky as I didn’t want the glue to show either and look messy.
Psssssttt… Can I let you in on a secret… the backside is a hot mess!! Don’t tell anyone!!!
Step 6 – To hang the hair bow holder, create a loop with the yarn and hot glue to the back.
That’s it! All done!
Dress her up with all the pretty hair bows!
We even figured out we could hang the hairbands as well!
The hair accessory situation is so much better now that they are not filled in a box and easily visible. Mi loves her hair bow holder!!!
It only cost me less than $5 for the yarn and the wood circle plus I only used about a quarter of the yarn.
