Ikea Moppe is one of Ikea’s favorite organizer.
It has a perfect size – not too big and not too small.
It has 6 drawers of various size making it very versatile.
I needed an organizer in my workshop for all the screws and nails so I turned to this organizer.
But I couldn’t just leave is plain of course!
I have been recently digging the combination of marble with warm wood tones and rose gold.
I had some leftover marble contact paper from the kids’ bathroom countertop refresh and this little Ikea Moppe makeover was meant to be!

How to Makeover an IKEA Moppe Using Contact Paper –
I have a full video for you showing the marble and rose gold Ikea makeover. Watch below. The full step by step instructions follow.
IKEA Moppe Makeover With Contact Paper –
- Take apart the drawers and stain the Ikea Moppe exterior and the drawer fronts.
- Allow it to dry overnight. If the surface feels rough, lightly sand with a fine grit sanding block.
- Measure and mark the pattern.
For the triangles, draw a diagonal line across the front and measured the midpoint and kept dividing until you have a nice sized triangle.Draw the same pattern on the top and down one side of the Ikea Moppe exterior. - Decide and mark which triangles get painted and which ones get “marble”. I didn’t follow a specific pattern. I just made sure that there were no adjoining triangles of the same “color”.
- Take apart the drawers, tape and paint all the triangles that need to be painted in rose gold. Be sure to paint the overlapping triangles and across the frame of the Ikea Moppe as well.
- Once dry, cut and attach the marble contact paper triangles to the designated triangles.Use a sharp knife or X-acto knife to trim contact paper.
That’s it!
I added the pattern to the top and wrapped it around down one side of the organizer.
I love how the marble contact paper makes it look like a marble inlay!
The rose gold is a subtle contrast with the warm wood tone and adds a bit of glam to the Moppe.
It has me debating if I should keep it in my office.
But I really do need it in the workshop so that’s where it will go. Things in the workshop need to be pretty too 🙂
