Bedroom refresh and Saatva Mattress Review

December 4, 2018 By Anika Gandhi

Saatva mattress with text overlay - Saatva mattress review

A guest bedroom refresh and Saatva mattress review… See what I really think of this mattress and get inspired to create a fun and cheerful guest bedroom!Colorful bedroom with flowers on it. Saatva mattress review

When we moved into this house, we decided to upgrade from a Queen to a King for the master bedroom and the original Queen bed went into the guest room.

I kept the rest of the furniture – the upholstered headboard and the yellow nightstands with it.

I even kept the same bedding!

The old mattress was over 8 years old and almost at the end of its life… moving 4 times (including two cross-state trips) had not helped either.View of master bedroom with DIY projects

I am very sensitive to mattresses!

That is one of the reasons I hate staying in hotels! If the mattress doesn’t work for me, I just don’t feel rested! This Queen mattress itself was a result of trying out and returning 2 other mattresses before settling on one!

I would never want our guests to have uncomfortable mattresses. (Which I discovered a few months ago when I was pushed out of the bed by two little kids taking over the bed… ha!)

We had been talking about getting a new mattress for a few months but when Saatva reached out, we knew it was time!

Why pick Saatva?

Saatva is an online exclusive mattress retailer.

And trust me, I have always been skeptical of buying something like a mattress online without first trying it out…

but then, even when I tried it out, I ended up having to exchange it…

So well… I decided to give Saatva a try anyway…Close up Saatva mattress

A few things about Saatva that helped me decide –

  • They are NOT a mattress in a box! They will deliver and setup your mattress and even haul away and recycle your old mattress.
  • They have eco-friendly and high-end durable construction.
  • Organic cotton pillow top.
  • 120-day home trial. (There is a very small transport fee if returned).
  • Made in the USA.
  • Most-importantly, they are very reasonably priced!

Saatva Mattress order and delivery

We got to pick our mattress and box spring height and firmness.

I was really impressed with the communication from ordering to delivery.

  • Email confirmation before they manufactured the mattress. (This is separate from the order confirmation and yes, each mattress is manufactured to order)
  • Email asking what are good days for me to receive the delivery.
  • Text and phone call to confirm the delivery.
  • Phone call 40 minutes before the delivery truck arrived.

When the delivery truck got here…they carried it all the way up the stairs…Saatva mattress delivery guys carrying it up the stairs

And set it up! They were nice and patient with me because I decided to move some of the furniture around in the room… ha!Saatva mattress setup in room

My Honest Saatva mattress review

When they left, I may or may not have played on the mattress a bitSaatva mattress review. girl laying on mattress

We went with the 14.5″ mattress in luxury firm (which is the mid-range firmness) and a 4.75″ box spring. It is just like Goldilocks’ bed… not too soft, not to firm.. just right…

But the real test was sleeping in it through the night…

And I conveniently caught a virus and quarantined myself along with my humidifier to sleep in the guest room for 3 nights 🙂

I am happy to report that the mattress is absolutely perfect! Bed with Saatva mattress and crumpled sheets

Now that we have the main thing squared away, I started putting the room back together.

The new box spring is shorter than our old box spring but my old bed skirt was still perfect so, I just folded it up at the top and stapled it all around!

We needed deep pocket sheets for this mattress. We have the same ones for our Master bedroom and love them!

I had been using a beige pin-tuck duvet set for a while and decided it was time to make things brighter. So, I went with an over the top floral duvet set.  Room view with saatva mattress review and colorful bedspread

To tie in the yellow nightstands and headboard, I added pillows I found at Homegoods. The lamp and elephant are from Homegoods too. Close up of pillows on the bed

My Final thoughts on the Saatva mattress

In summary, I am extremely happy with the Saatva mattress.

Everything from ordering to delivery was exceptionally efficient. I love how comfortable it is.

I will certainly be looking here first next time we are in the market for a mattress.

No more going to mattress showrooms and laying on every bed and wondering if you are making the right decision… Just order the perfect luxury mattress online for an affordable price!

Wow, that mattress looks comfy and I love the duvet. I need to find one that will go with or compliment my blue oriental-style rug. I love the bold colors you chose, it looks great with all your DIY furniture in the room. Your guests are very lucky to have an inviting place to call home for a few days.
