One of the projects I want to tackle this year is building a dining table.

I have been on looking around for inspiration on tables and  DIY farmhouse tables are everywhere!

Farmhouse decor is certainly pretty popular right now.

It is classic, rustic and can be designed to match any and all home decor.

While I wouldn’t consider my style to be farmhouse in any way, I am definitely drawn to the rustic and chunky lines of the DIY farm tables!

Buying your own Farmhouse table can get really expensive!

But isn’t that why we DIY? You get the look you want for a fraction of the price! WIN-WIN!

Building a Farmhouse Table

There aren’t very strict rules for a DIY Farmhouse table. However, you will find that these are common in all the Farmhouse tables –

  • Clean lines
  • Modest features
  • Thick durable tabletops
  • Usually made from thicker lumber – 2×2 or 2×4
  • Stained or a combination of white/grey and stain.

OMG, I love these tables. I would be very happy to have either one of these tables in my home, however, I am nuts for any table with legs that’s has ‘X’s.

This is some really good information about the farmhouse table. It is good to know that how to make a table. That is a good thing for me to know because I have been wanting to get a wood dining table. What would be the best way to keep a wooden dining table beautiful and safe?

Awesome ideas! I plan to take my (cheap, ancient, but real wood) table apart & rebuild it with a new chunky top. Showing these to my husband to persuade him that it’s a good idea!
